The Garage Apartments And Condominiums
This unique, forward thinking project includes 56 apartments in a four-story building that allows residents to use dual vehicle elevators to park on their own apartment’s floor, near their front door. This feature is possible since this building was originally built in the 1950s as a Buick dealership and later became Stephen’s Chevrolet.
Living spaces mimic the garage door look by using translucent panelized dividers separating the living spaces. The floor plan is efficient, allowing occupants easy access between rooms, and providing the open air roominess found in much larger accommodations.
A large rooftop photovoltaic (solar energy) array provides approximately 65% of each unit’s energy requirements. This building is located in a spot network that precluded the ability for net metering, yet Moses Engineers worked closely with the utility company to ensure net metering by installing an energy radial.
Additional thermal panels are provided for each unit’s domestic hot water needs as well as the rooftop swimming pool.
Vehicle charging stations are provided for each unit at their front doors.
The energy efficient and eco friendly residence opened in 2019.
